A device that meets the requirements for the electronic capture and exchange of Card data that permits a Cardholder to affect a Transaction is a Terminal. It is characterized into 2 forms: Attended Terminals and Un-attended Terminals.
Girmiti Software efficiently works for these attended and unattended terminals which can be a Petro based Terminal, Bank Branch Terminal, and POS Terminal.
We develop the platform to design, deploy and implement these terminals for our customers. The architectural flow and working of these terminals are same with the differences in functionalities based on their requirement specific to the region and customers.
A POS Transaction may be a Card-present Transaction taking place in a face-to-face environment or at an unattended POS Terminal, or a Card-not-present Transaction taking place in a non-face-to-face environment (for example, an e-commerce, mail order, phone order, or recurring payment Transaction).
An attended payment terminal is where the sales assistant or operator at merchant location will activate the transaction. This means that the payment terminal can be passed or is facing the customer at the point of sale, whether it is a wireless pin pad, or continuously charged. In case of attended payment terminal, it is a representative of the merchant, supervising the process.
In attended terminals more operations are allowed, because risk level is monitored by an operator. A POS Transaction occurring at an attended POS Terminal is a face-to-face transaction, since a Salesperson or Representative is present at the time of the Transaction.
Below are the types of attended terminals:
Bank Branch Terminal – An attended device, located on the premises of a Customer or other financial institution designated as its authorized agent by the Corporation, that facilitates a Manual Cash Disbursement Transaction by a Cardholder.
POS Terminal – A point of sale terminal (POS terminal) is an electronic device used to process card payments at retail locations/merchant location in the presence of assistants.
Some businesses need to be able to process transactions without having a representative present to input the necessary information. Service provider/Merchant needs to opt for unattended terminal to meet these requirements. An unattended self-service payment terminal not monitored or supervised by any operator, the customer gets to use, activate and perform the required transactions. Unattended mode requires the payment devices to be securely enclosed and tamper proof for a secure self-service solution. Some of the example of an unattended terminal would be a kiosk, selling train/metro tickets, where there is no one to monitor the transactions.
A POS Transaction occurring at an unattended POS Terminal is a non-face-to-face Transaction, as NO Salesperson or Representative is present at the time of the Transaction.

CAT transactions: A MasterCard POS Transaction that occurs at an unattended POS Terminal must be identified as a Cardholder-Activated Terminal (CAT) Transaction.
