Bluetooth Interface

With the support for Bluetooth in all current generation mobile phones, it is an option for any proximity payments alternate to NFC which is still not available on lower end smart phones.

Mobile Payments either P2P or P2M can be achieved between two Bluetooth supporting devices. At the time of the payment all it requires is a pairing of the devices involved to establish communication and complete the payment transaction.

BLE

BLE is acronym for Bluetooth Low Energy also called as Bluetooth Smart, is a wireless personal area network technology. Compared to "Classic" Bluetooth, BLE is intended to provide considerably reduced power consumption and cost while maintaining a similar communication range.

Various companies have looked at the possibility of using Bluetooth for advertising – pushing information to phones when the phone comes within range of a fixed transmitter. Although several companies exist within this area, it is an awkward experience that leverages classic Bluetooth technology.

Some of the major business areas to utilize the BLE devices are for scanners, advertisements, indoor locations, mapping, advertising packets, proximity, notifications indoor locations.

So far, the applications of BLE just need simple transmit only beacons. Once beacons are connected to a network to provide device management, they can potentially transmit alternative data in their advertising packets to push messages or offers to previously identified users..

BLE is a supported technology in most of the Smart Phones available now in the market. BLE is used for communication in following domains-

QR and Bar Code

Bar codes and QR codes are a simple way to store information about any item. They are used to know more about the item, track their movement, status. They were traditionally used at stores, retail outlets and supply chain management solutions in their printed version stuck onto the item, but now are being increasingly used in eCommerce and mCommerce as well.

QR codes and Bar codes are downloaded onto the Mobile phone and are then used during check out or to get more information to help decision making whether to buy the product or not.

EMV specifications available for Consumer and Merchant presented QR code with this feature we shall provision cloud-based card credentials on to non-NFC based devices as well to enable EMV QR payment.
